Course Leader, Andy Mouncey

Andy Mouncey is our ultra-running expert who practices what he coaches. In 2003 he signed off a 17 year triathlon career (including multiple Ironman finishes) setting new record stage times for the Enduroman Arch to Arc Challenge: a 300 miles solo triathlon linking London & Paris via an English Channel swim. Since then its all been about two legs-racing on the fells from his home in northern England, and over the ultra-distance.
His breakthrough race came in 2010 placing him 2nd at the Lakeland 100 mile event
He is a qualified and experienced coach and trainer, inspirational speaker for both corporate and educational clients at home and abroad, and a student of his craft. We like him because he's just great at making the complex and scary stuff seem simple and inviting!
He is also a published author who has appeared on radio and TV (Andy's blog: www.bigandscaryrunning.com/andys-blog.html)

Course Physiotherapist, Joy 0’Flanogan

Joy is a fully qualified International Mountain Leader and a Chartered Physiotherapist. After working in the NHS the pull of the mountains became too strong and she has now lived in the French Alps full time for 7 years. As a Pilates teacher and physio she is particularly interested in using core stability work to manage recurring injuries in active people.
Joy loves being outside and is an avid climber, runner and skier. For the last 20 years she has climbed and trekked her way across Europe, North America and the Himalayas. More recently, with the focus on the running, she has successfully competed in the Northface Ultratrail (CCC), Chamonix marathon & mountain marathons in the UK & France. Skiing every winter season since 1999, Joy is a BASI qualified ski instructor and last year skiied in the British Mountaineering Council’s ‘Off Piste Essentials’ training film.
Joy is passionate about sharing her love of the mountains with people to help them experience the excitement and beauty this awesone terrain has to offer.

He has since gone on to climb Cho Oyu (2006) and Everest again (2007) as part of the Caudwell Xtreme Everest medical research expedition where he was the climbing leader.
Sundeep has also had first-hand experience of extreme environments, from the mountains of Antarctica to the Sahara desert, were he completed the 140-mile Marathon des Sables desert ultra-marathon (2000). He has been an explorer or medical expert in virtually every wilderness terrain in more than 40 countries, from deserts to mountain tops and from the ocean depths to aerospace.
